March 14, 2015 (Saturday) – Goldschmiedtreffe (Famous Jewellery Dinner)

“A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.”
– Tim Cahill

Today I was sick so I was not able to visit any exhibition but managed to come for the Goldschmiedtreffe (Famous Jewellery Dinner) at 7:00 p.m. at Augustiner-Keller. I tried to find Aran Galligan in the room full of jewellers but was not able to although we did bump into Yutaka Minegishi on our way out.

The Contemporary Jewellery community is not that big compared to other areas/disciplines of the Visual Arts, and it is good to see those from Munich and even those who travelled from different parts of the world (like we did) come together for a lovely dinner. Jewellery making is a way of life, and it does not only consist of metalwork or stone setting or purely technical skills but also involves socializing and connecting with other people who share the same passion as you. This could play a vital role in promoting your own work and in establishing networks.
