We visited a number of exhibits today. Notably, to me, was the Ra Gallery.
Aside from the name, which stuck in my head, (when I was a child I thought Ancient Egypt was incredibly fascinating, and I still do, and I instantly associated the names together, even though I'm sure they're probably unrelated), I found the collection of pieces a excellent mix of admirable and beautiful work.
I thought the layout of the gallery - as a retail store - was artsy and organised, with a touch of order yet spaced out enough to definitely show it's not your conventional store. All the pieces for sale were presented beautifully, with good lighting, and clean, professional stands. There were good explanations and just enough information coming with every single piece.
It put into stark realisation of just how much I've learned in these short few weeks, as I recognised a fair bit of the work present. Knowing how much I've progressed was a really good jolt of motivation, and you can spot out certain styles and concepts from other artists' work so quickly. Ruudt Peters for example, and I also learned the names of a few more artists, like Iris Tsante, who created rings out of pencils.
I didn't take any photos of the actual shop, as it was preferred not to, but overall my review of the place was that it held an excellent variety of contemporary jewellery to showcase a vast array of work by notable and less known artists, and all was presented in a fair and clean manner.
