Crushed coral, flowers, resin, wood
The way the work captures a single moment in time. A moment in nature, which is forever changing and adapting. The idea of stopping. Or freezing an organic being that to continue to survive has to keep growing/changing/evolving. Yet by capturing a moment, the beauty is suspended in time, ie capturing something alive, yet being the cause of destruction as without movement and evolution the being ceases to exist. I found this piece (series) very beautiful in the way it captures a single moment in time and the idea of stopping nature to capture its essence. The look of the flower petals 'Frozen' with their veins visible creates this sense of the unknown and the vulnerable. It is both alive and dead at the same time, blurring the lines between them. The piece sits in the realm of what is real and what is not.
